Yparex B.V.

The Compound Company in Enschede and Geleen, The Netherlands

The Yparex business dates back to 1987, when Dutch chemical giant DSM started production of tie layers for multilayer pipes. In 1991, tie layers for multilayer packaging where added to the product portfolio. In the years that followed, new grades for markets such as medical, wire & cable and additives were successfully launched.

In 2011, The Compound Company acquired Yparex from DSM. The R&D and sales office on the large chemical site of Chemelot in Geleen (NL) provided new inroads for The Compound Company to business development initiatives. Production was transferred from Genk (BE) to the existing plant of The Compound Company in Enschede (NL) on newly-built production lines, tailored to production and innovation with grafting technology. This paved the way for new product introductions such as the world’s first bio-based tie layer resin. In 2018, a second plant on a different location in Enschede was opened to better ensure security of supply to customers and support the growth of the Yparex product line.

From a small niche player, Yparex has nowadays grown to a leading company in its European markets with global sales to all continents. There is constant development of new grades and as well as customer specific grades. The company has a focused technology platform in polymer grafting for applications such as tie layer in (complex) multilayer structures, compounding additives, steel pipe coating and solar encapsulants.
