The Yparex business dates back to 1987, when Dutch chemical giant DSM started production of tie layers for multilayer pipes. DSM added tie layers for multilayer packaging to the product portfolio, in 1991. New grades for markets such as medical, wire and cable and additives were successfully launched, in the years that followed.
In 2011, The Compound Company acquired Yparex from DSM. The company established an R&D and sales office on the large chemical site of Chemelot in Geleen (NL). It provided new inroads for The Compound Company’s business development initiatives. The Compound Company transferred production from Genk (BE) to its existing plant in Enschede (NL). The Compound Company built new production lines, and tailored them to production and innovation with grafting technology. This paved the way for new product introductions such as the world’s first bio-based tie layer resin. In 2018, a second plant was opened at a different location in Enschede. The Compound Company established the second plant to better ensure security of supply to customers and support the growth of the Yparex product line.
From a small niche player, Yparex has nowadays grown to a leading company in its European markets. With global sales, Yparex now serves customers across all continents. The company constantle develops new grades as well as customer specific grades. The company has a focused technology platform in polymer grafting. Its applications includes tie layers in (complex) multilayer structures, compounding additives, steel pipe coatings and solar encapsulants.
