Sustainable Projects

Nature is circular. And so is our ambition. We integrate recycled and biobased materials, upcycle waste streams, and support industries like renewable energy with efficient, sustainable compounds. We co-develop and co-produce cutting-edge compounds that enable our customers to create breakthrough products, for a better, more sustainable future. Together with our partners, we are building the future of plastics. Together we develop solutions that reduce impact and support the transition to a circular economy.

From brewery co-products to custom-compounded biodegradable plastics

Through a close collaboration between Duynie, GRANULOUS, and The Compound Company, biodegradable compounds have been manufactured as sustainable alternatives to fossil-based plastics. Utilizing grain residues from brewery residual streams in this format is a pioneering step in circular material innovation.

CircuTherm

The Compound Company is one of the partners in the CircuTherm project. This project is co-funded by the European Union, Stimulus and JTF (Just Transition Fund). CircuTherm develops a fundamentally new way of heating industrial processes to cut CO₂ emissions and enable circularity. By using inductive heating, the project delivers highly efficient, selective, and electrifiable thermal processes that overcome the limitations of conventional heating, unlocking new possibilities for recycling multi-component materials and intensifying catalytic reactions.

PEPPERONI

The Compound Company participates in the European Horizon-funded PEPPERONI project, developing encapsulation films for a pilot production line for perovskite-silicon tandem photovoltaic modules, targeting 2026. The consortium comprises four equipment suppliers, two material suppliers, and nine R&D institutes and universities.

Pepperoni

Solar module recyclability

The Compound Company is developing Yparex encapsulant resins based on polyolefin elastomers (POE) as an alternative to conventional EVA. POE-based encapsulants are fully recyclable and classified as non-hazardous at end of life, addressing a key barrier to solar module circularity.

Post Consumer to Prime

The Compound Company is a partner in the Post Consumer to Prime project. Post Consumer To Prime is an innovative partnership between various companies that focuses on promoting sustainability and circularity. This project, co-funded by the European Union, aims to maximise the value of post-consumer materials and reintegrate them into the economy. Through collaboration and knowledge sharing, we want to make a positive impact on the environment and society.

Greenwall

Together with Sustan, Code Product Solutions, and Het VISTA college, The Compound Company developed modular vertical planters made from Sustan rPP1020, a high-quality recycled polypropylene compound with natural fibres.

Co-funded by the European Union through the OPZuid programme, this collaboration highlights the power of innovation, knowledge sharing, and strong partnerships in accelerating the transition towards a more circular economy.

By combining smart product design with recycled materials, this project demonstrates how circular plastics can be transformed into attractive, functional products that contribute to greener urban environments and healthier indoor spaces. Designed for both indoor and outdoor use, the modular system offers easy assembly while supporting sustainable and scalable applications.
