“Products from The Compound Company are used in a variety of applications; from sausage skins to high-voltage cables and solar panels. Customers’ production processes are also everything between extrusion coating and tube extrusion; from triple/double bubble foil to bio-based compounds. So as a Research & Development Manager, every day is different and you never know what the day will bring.”

Tiina, Research & Development Manager
Tiina is Finnish by origin and has over 20 years of working experience in Research & Development in Finland, France and the Netherlands: “Before joining The Compound Company, I was Innovation and Application development Manager at another chemical company. There I developed chemicals for paper, masterbatches, MAH-grafted polyolefins and nonwovens (the non-woven fabrics used in construction, cable and composite applications) with my teams.”
Developing new products is fun
Working at The Compound Company since 2025 Tiina’s work at The Compound Company is very diverse: “Developing new products together with the team is always fun. It’s great when we have developed something and customer accept it and put it into use after a usually quite long testing period. Even with my long work experience, you still learn something new almost every day.”
Tiina also gives technical advice to colleagues, consults on the customers’ needs, development projects or sometimes complaints and has a lot of contacts with the customers & suppliers. So she also travels a lot: “It is also important to stay up-to-date with all the developments in the plastics world and the different markets. I also enjoy seeing our customers’ and suppliers’ production processes.”
Meeting new people is something Tiina loves: “I like to stand as a crew at the various trade shows that The Compound Company participates in. You never know beforehand what question someone will come to the stand with.”
What else makes working at The Compound Company fun? Tiina: “The colleagues are great and the atmosphere here is nice. It is a company where you are allowed to take initiatives. What I find important in my work is to make the world around plastics a little better and more sustainable every day.”
