Coffee Compounds

Coffee was one of the most consumed beverages in the world. Surprisingly, only 1% of the coffee brewed is actually used, with the remaining 99% ending up as waste. This results in about 18 million tonnes of coffee grounds wasted each year, with a significant environmental impact. Processing just one kilogram of coffee grounds as waste generates 775 grams of CO2 emissions, equivalent to a car traveling 7 kilometers.

EcoForte coffee compounds

The Compound Company believes that the incineration of certain waste streams can be addressed in a different way. coffeeOur EcoForte coffee compounds are a great example of incorporating waste streams into compounded solutions for various consumer goods. Our innovative partners have found a way to collect the materials, offering a closed-loop solution.

Applications of coffee compounds

The processing window in plastic manufacturing limits the number of materials that can be used as carriers for coffee compounds. We process coffee grounds in polyolefins (both virgin and recycled) and biopolymers into compounds that can be used in plastic converting techniques such as injection moulding, extrusion, and 3D printing.
