Multi-layer Pipes for Building and Construction Applications

Multi-layer structures are composed of several layers of different materials bonded together. In particular, multilayer composite pipes typically feature either three or five layers, depending on their intended application. As an adhesive layer Yparex provides benefits like high mechanical performance, excellent thermocycle-resistance, long-term stability (ISO 2578) and compliance with DVGW W542.

Aluminium composite pipes for sanitary and heating (barrier pipes)

Aluminum composite pipes are used for sanitary hot and cold water applications and radiator heating systems. Yparex adhesive resins literally blend the benefits of metals and polymers through excellent adhesion of both the inside and outside layers of the aluminum and PE (polyethylene), PEX (cross-linked polyethylene) or PERT (polyethylene of raised temperature resistance).

Plastic pipes for floor and wall heating/cooling (barrier pipes)

Plastic barrier pipes are used in underfloor and wall heating and cooling. Yparex binds PE with EVOH to provide the ideal oxygen barrier properties and mechanical strength in floor heating pipes. As a bonding material Yparex provides excellent adhesion and long-life durability under changing temperatures.

Copper composite pipes

In copper composite pipes, Yparex shows long-term adhesive strength at varying temperatures. The three layer structure of copper, Yparex 9403M and polyethylene offers significant cost and weight reduction compared to traditional massive copper pipes in applications like sanitary hot and cold-water applications.

PP-reinforced pipes

Polypropylene reinforced pipes are used for a wide range of high pressure and high temperature requirements, including drinking water and utility cold water supply, sewage systems, ventilation, outdoor water supply, in agriculture and industrial applications. These pipes feature a three-layer structure: the inner and outer layers are made of pure PP, while the central layer is reinforced with glass fibre-filled polypropylene (PP-GF). This creates a unified, durable PP structure with enhanced mechanical properties. PP-GF is much lighter than metal, offers elasticity, and a high resistance to chemicals and corrosion. Reinforcement is needed to compensate for linear elongation during heating. EcoForte PPC GF20 100 delivers all that performance in a 3-layer PP structure.
