Compression Moulding

Compression moulding is a manufacturing processes to produce plastic products in large volumes. In this process a raw material (thermoset or thermoplastic) is placed into an open, heated mould cavity. The mould is then closed with a top plug and compressed using hydraulic pressure, to ensure that the raw material is solidified over the entire mould shape. Once cooled or cured, the material solidifies into the desired form. To optimize this process various additives such as stabilizers and fillers can be incorporated.
