Lamination

Lamination is the process in which two or more flexible webs are joined together using a bonding agent.

Typical processing technologies are:

  • Thermal lamination
  • Extrusion/coextrusion lamination
  • Wax/hot-melt lamination
  • Adhesive lamination:
    • Wet lamination
    • Dry lamination
    • Solventless lamination

To enhance the performance and tailor the properties of the final product, various materials like encapsulant films, chain extenders and flame retardants can be incorporated into the process.

Additives used for lamination

The Compound Company offers multiple Yparex and EcoForte products such as POE modified encapsulant films, PP and PE heat activated adhesive films, PET and PLA chain extenders, and POE flame retardant for the lamination process.

Applications of lamination

The lamination films have a wide range of applications, especially in solar PV modules and textile.
