Flame Retardant Compounds

Flame-retardant compounds are chemicals added to materials to prevent or slow the spread of fire. They work by interfering with the combustion process in one or more ways, either physically (e.g., forming a protective barrier) or chemically (e.g., interrupting the flame’s chemical reactions).

EcoForte halogen free flame-retardant compounds

Tougher standards for flame retardancy and the demand for solutions with low environmental impact continue to drive the search for effective Halogen Free Flame Retardant (HFFR) solutions in polyolefins. HFFR concepts have been developed under the brand name EcoForte FR, that match the highest standards for Flame Retardancy (UL94 V0), while retaining good mechanical and processing properties.

Applications of flame retardant compounds

Our EcoForte FR halogen-free flame retardant compounds are based on polyolefin and completely free of halogen. They deliver excellent performance in industries, like building & construction, where safety is paramount. Our EcoForte FR compounds are increasingly used in injection-moulded or extruded structural parts for wall cladding and roofing applications. They can replace less sustainable materials like PVC or bitumen and is ideal as both a flame retardant for artificial thatch and as a TPO-based compound for roof liners.

Strong, flame-retardant and sustainable

Not only does EcoForte FR meet the highest standards for Flame Retardancy, it also offers good mechanical and processing properties. EcoForte even has the potential to lower carbon footprint of end products further through the inclusion of natural fibres.
