Yparex heat activated adhesive films
The Compound Company offers a special range of Yparex mono or multilayer thermoplastic heat activated adhesive films. These films are thermoplastic, flexible thin layers of high performance bonding agents. Despite their relative thinness (50-100 μm), they offer an impressive level of bonding performance for many applications such as (geo)textiles, furniture, and (wood)composites.
Various viscosities & low on volatiles
Yparex thermoplastic heat activated adhesive films are applied as solids. By laminating, the substrates become wetted properly, resulting in great adhesion after solidifying. To meet different wetting requirements, Yparex can offer adhesive films with different viscosity. Unlike liquid adhesives, the Yparex adhesive film is very low on volatiles. As a result, Yparex films meet various interior air quality requirements of the automotive industry.
Benefits of Yparex adhesive films
- Excellent adhesion of polyolefins (PE or PP) with polar substrates e.g. PA, EVOH, aluminium, glassfibre
- Yparex films consist of easy to recycle thermoplastic polymers
- Trace amount of volatiles
- Emission neutral
- Reducing carbon footprint by using spefically selected recyclate materials
Adequate bonding
Yparex heat activated adhesive films remain tack-free until activated by an external heat source. Elevated temperatures – usually 120ºC or higher – must be maintained for a specific period on the film to achieve adequate bonding. Yparex heat activated adhesive films do not crosslink during the processing. These Yparex films are especially designed for bonding different substrates. It is possible to bond apolar substrates (PE/PP) with polar substrates such as polyamide, aluminium, glass fibre mats, natural fibres, etc.
Applicable in a broad range of applications
Yparex offers flexibility in the dimensions (width, thickness, length) of the adhesive film. This all makes Yparex adhesive films ideal for automated processes and industrial applications. Heat activated adhesives are a popular choice for laminating, compression moulding, and thermoplastic welding in a broad range of applications. These adhesive films are widely used, especially in the textile, furniture and composite industry.
